“Oily Soup” (Jiuzhai Valley / 2005)
A persona poem by Kwoa.

I spy,
with my little eye,
desperate kiddos,
dreaming of legos.

Alas,
they’d rather pass,
than gulp me whole,
to finish their bowl…

Tears drop.
Plip, ploc, plic, plop.
And I rejoice,
as they have no choice!

Another form suggested by Dave from the Poet’s Circle, and I had a little fun imagining what a soup would feel facing my daughter’s relentless cries… let’s just say that she doesn’t appreciate soup, yet must finish it, like any kid…
The picture was taken in a Tibetan lodge located in the Jiuzhai Valley. Second picture from that trip, following “Balancing Sanity“. I must admit that the place was just amazing, albeit really touristic, but at the time we could still travel freely in the area. We reached Jiuzhao by bus, and the whole journey in the area was just marvelous (Songpan, Wenchuan, Aba, Danba, etc.). Since then, new regulations were put in place preventing foreigners to visit these places (Jiuzhai and Huanglong aside, which can be still reached by plane…).
