“Irony, O Irony…” an Elegy – Mount Qingcheng / 2005

“Irony, O Irony…” (Mount Qingcheng / 2005)
An elegy by Kwoa.

Kwoa Photo Poem 16 Irony, O Irony... an elegy - Qingcheng Mount 2006

Mellow fumes of incense waltzing above your grave,
Barely soothe myriads of senses all so livid,
Enraged by the ignominy of your passing.

Deterring pompous arrogance defined your quest;
Glorious battles facing bored minds all so rigid,
To safeguard powerless wit in cardiac arrest.

Mellow fumes of incense waltzing for your passing,
Now completely unnerve hopes once all so vivid,
But with wifi on, such trifle feels all but grave.

The main takeaway for 2020 so far is that true refined Irony has left our world… swallowed by instant thinking, marketability, and politically correctness. It’s very tragic, yet barely noteworthy.
The picture dates back from my second trip to Mount Qingcheng, a Taoist mountain north of Chengdu in Sichuan. It’s also the second entry for this place following the “Two Feet” mirror cinquain.
