Love Hotel
Shenzhen / Guangdong / China
This poem came as a response to Ms Serene‘s contest on All Poetry. A poet herself, I invite you to read her work. The contest, along with this poem, was about sensual experiences.
As for the picture, it was taken in a Love Hotel in Shenzhen. Back then, my wife was six month pregnant and I was swamped under deadlines. We needed some time out… Group purchase was the latest craze, and we always jumped on new exciting offer to occupy our sundays. That’s when this package came in…
“One night, two delivered meals (simple ones), a bottle of wine (bad one), a lingerie gift (cheap one) and a parking place (we came by bus)”. The place itself was interesting as we’ve never been to a Love Hotel before. There was a direct entrance with a secluded parking garage leading directly into the room for privacy, a round bouncy bed, a fancy bathroom (with sauna included), a wide selection of movies you normally can’t find on Chinese TV…
Seeing a six month pregnant checking-in surprised staff at the front desk. Overall, the week-end ended up being really relaxing, with bathing, cuddling and sleeping… a lot of sleeping!
